Frequently Asked Questions
How can coloured cotton be organic?
We use organically-grown cotton which is then organically dyed using a process that bonds the cotton and the pigment into a single molecular structure so that there are effectively no chemical residues in the yarn. Both the raw and the finished yarn have been certified organic by either the Organic Crop Improvement Association or the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Because the yarn and pigment make up a single entity, our organic cotton toys and garments are colour-fast.
What is Oeko-Tex Standard 100?
This is very similar to organic certification. It is a widely-used label for textile materials tested to ensure that they contain no harmful chemicals or substances. All of the stuffing in our soft toys is certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
Can I put a hand-knitted organic cotton garment or toy in the washing machine?
You can machine wash and machine dry an organic cotton garment. You should turn the garment inside out before placing it in the washing machine. We would advise washing organic cotton soft toys by hand and laying them out flat to dry. Machine washing a toy could displace the stuffing.
What if I have bought a garment but it doesn't fit the recipient?
Before you return the garment, we suggest that you contact us so that we can help you decide what size and garment would be most suitable as a replacement and so that we can help determine the best way for you to return the original garment to us.
