Heart-stopping review turns out for the best

My heart sank when I checked messages this morning to find this angry-looking note from Switzerland:

“Dieses Präsent hat jetzt alles übertroffen, echt toll, könnte nicht schöner sein, absolut Hammer, freue mich sehr dieses Geschenk bald überreichen zu dürfen. Kompliment dem Verkäufer, werde wieder einmal auf diese Adresse zurückkommen. DANKE!!!!!”

My German is almost non-existent, but I could figure out enough to see that the message wasn’t good. This product was all ‘übertroffen’ (too much of something), and ‘absolut Hammer’ (maybe they wanted to smash it up?), and the message was rounded off with capitals and multiple exclamation marks to emphasise that this product was absolutely ‘DANKE!!!!’ Oh dear!

So, you’ll understand that I was suprised and immensely relieved when I reached for the translation button and found this:

“This present has exceeded all expectations, truly fantastic, couldn’t be more beautiful, absolutely amazing! I’m so excited to give this gift soon. Kudos to the seller, I’ll definitely be back. THANK YOU!!!!!”

So, thank you to Christine in Switzerland this morning for some kind words and for giving my heart a gentle workout.
